So I just started playing Dragon Age Origins two days ago. I have been quite excited about it for a while, based solely on the commercials from months ago. I mean the game looks badass. Well the first time I stepped into the game I was met with a huge amount of video lag. I could not believe how choppy it was. The worst part was that the graphics looked like garbage too. I don't have the most awful setup in the world mind you: HD 4870 and 4200+. After tweaking a few settings to make it playable I set off on my journey. Now let me fast forward and say I was having a blast for the first 3 hours of game play. The game is fun and provides you with a lot of strategy and excitement. The problem I had was with guidance. I could not tell where the hell to go. I was able to travel through the game to places I don't think I should have quested yet. Long story short. It was hard as hell and I died many times in this one quest dungeon. After having enough frustration I turned around and gathered more party members and finished all the minor quests at the previous town I was in (a 3 hours endevour). Upon returning to the quest where I was dying I pressed the F5 quick save button for the first time. I didn't see any mention of the game being saved so I figured that it was just the way it was supposed to be as a quick save. So I rushed in and was promptly slaughter by the same pack of 5 dogs that killed me before. The main problem for me was that the last 3 hours of game play was not auto saved so nicely because i veered off of my linear quest route that I took. So everything I did in those last 3 hours was null in void. Obviously my quick save button didn't work due to my shitty Logitech keyboard which gives the function buttons two different functions. Quick save wasn't one of them. I am not sure if I will venture back into Dragon Age any time soon. If I do I may start a whole new character because I don't like the way my Mage is ending up anyway. I do find the game utter BS though.
