Nogueira injury leads to UFC 133 bout cancellation

It was an unlikely turn of events when Tito Ortiz came to the rescue of UFC 133 as  he agreed to step in to the main event against Rashad Evans.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira’s recent injury, however, proved to be a bridge too far as a replacement has not been found to face Rich Franklin.

Nogueira blamed a shoulder injury for his withdrawal and it was announced today that his bout with Franklin has been officially scrapped.

In the wake of this announcement the UFC has moved the main card bout between Yoshihiro Akiyama and Vitor Belfort to co-main event and the welterweight contest between Brian Ebersole and Dennis Hallman now opens up the pay per view card
