UFC announce sixth Versus event featuring Johnson vs. Brenneman and Danzig vs. Wiman

The UFC’s fall schedule continues to get more hectic by the day and the promotion duly announced their sixth outing on the Versus network which is looking likely to take place on October 1st.

The card does not yet have an official line up or location but the organisation have already announced two proposed bouts for the event.

Mac Danzig (20-8-1 MMA, 4-4 UFC) will meet Matt Wiman (13-6 MMA, 7-4 UFC) in a rematch following their controversial first encounter and the Charlie Brenneman (14-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) will meet Anthony Johnson (9-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC).

Danzig’s bout with Wiman ended when referee Yves Lavigne stopped the bout after assuming Danzig had been rendered unconscious in a submission. It was clear, however, when Danzig jumped up that the wrong call had been made and a rematch was discussed immediately but never materialised.

Charlie Brenneman jumped all over the chance to fight Rick Story, Anthony Johnson’s replacement, when Nate Marquardt failed his medical to fight.

Brenneman outworked Story for the decision and will now face the explosive Anthony Johnson at the newly unveiled card.

Johnson last defeated Dan Hardy in March in a bout in which Rumble used his superior wrestling to emerge relatively unscathed.
